  1. Introduction: (i) Introduction to theories of performance, (ii) Historical overview of Western and Indian theatre, (iii) Forms and Periods: Classical, Contemporary, Stylized, Naturalist.
  2. Theatrical Forms and Practices: (i) Types of theatre, semiotics of performative spaces, e.g. proscenium „in the round‟, amphitheatre, open-air, etc. , (ii) Voice, speech: body movement, gestures and techniques (traditional and contemporary), floor exercises: improvisation/characterization.
  3. Theories of Drama: (i) Theories and demonstrations of acting: Stanislavsky, Brecht. , (ii) Bharata.
  4. Theatrical Production: (i) Direction, production, stage props, costume, lighting, backstage support. , (ii) Recording/archiving performance/case study of production/performance/impact of media on performance processes.
